A die is a device that creates threads on bolts or metal pipes.
Who uses it and why?
Mechanics use this because sometimes the bolt they have doesn't have enough threads on it so they create more. They used it extend screws and bolts.
What materials can they be used on?
The die can be use on multiple materials like a metal pipe or a bolt.
How is it used?
The die is placed in the die holder until tight. The die is placed on the top of the pipe or bolt so that the the bolt or pipe fits in the hole. The die holder is spun 3 times and back 1 time to make the process easier until completely threaded. When done, spin the die holder off the threads.
What are the distinctive features?
It has a flower kind of hole in the middle where the pipe is placed. Ther die comes in many different sizes to match the bolts original threads. The die tends to come in kits with the die holder and taps.
